Charity Evening – April 2016

On Thursday 7th April SAGT held its first ever Charity Evening, in Radhuni Indian Restaurant in Denbigh. With support from the Denbigh Chocolate Shop and other local businesses, the evening was a great success. The Mayor of Denbigh was able to join us as customers enjoyed a great Indian Buffet. Radhuni donated 50% of the food takings to SAGT and additional generous donations were given on the night. Sue spoke about the nature of our work and thanked everyone, including Shopon the restaurant manager and his staff for their support and Geraint Parry, Headteacher of Ysgol Brynhyfryd, talked about the impact of education and inparticular the impact of qualified teachers in changing lives.
At the end of the evening a staggering total of £745 was raised. Further donations, following the success of the evening, means that SAGT has been able to raise the £900 needed to sponsor another teacher. The details of the ‘Denbigh Sponsored Teacher’ will be available as soon as s/he has been accepted to start training at The Gambia College.
The trustees of SAGT wish to also add their huge thanks and appreciation to the customers of Radhuni and people of Denbigh who made all of this possible.
